Bunions/ Hallux Valgus
Bunions are bony deformities at the base of the big toe, which often cause it to point outwards.
Common symptoms include a deformity at the base of the big toe, pain around the joints, and swelling/stiffness.
What causes Bunions?
Bunions are formed when the bones forming the big toe joint move out of place. Years of abnormal motion and pressure forces the big toe to bend outward, which causes an often-painful lump on the joint. Poorly fitting shoes, arthritis and family history can contribute to bunion formation.
